TON MERANO Low Barstool - [Wood]
Designed by Alexander Gufler / Made in Czech Republic
TON's Low Merano stool (61 cm seat height) is a multiple design award winning product with a solid wood base and pressed plywood seat & backrest. Its smart construction gives it a striking geometric shape and makes it both lightweight and sturdy, with no visible fasteners or metal parts.
Merano stool is available in a high version too and comes in 3 material options: wood, fully upholstered, or upholstered seat only. The wood only version is available in three types of wood (PEFC certified):
// Beech wood: best known and most commonly used deciduous trees. Beech wood is light to pinkish in colour and features texture that is not very distinctive. The wood is hard, relatively strong, less elastic, homogeneous and dense.
// Oak: one of the most sought after materials for centuries. Its core is relatively wide, evenly coloured, brownish with grey or yellowish tinges. The wood is strong, hard and very durable. It is the most resilient material against fluctuations of wet and dry conditions.
// American Walnut: native to North America American Walnut was brought to Europe in the 17th century. It is of dark brown colour with lighter strips and spots of purple tinge. Thanks to its colouring, it is ideal as a substitute in furniture manufacture for more expensive dark wood. American walnut is a hard and strong. It is easy to process and its surface shows a beautiful gloss and colouring, especially when treated with oil.
The standard surface finish for beech and oak is either lacquered (water based varnish, UV protective, easy to clean and maintain) or oiled (matt protective layer that does not peel or crack and allows wood to breathe; minor damages can be sanded and re-oiled with this surface treatment; oil also brings out the natural colour of the wood). American Walnut is only supplied in oiled finish.
