FDB MOBLER J83 Stool - [Wood / Paper Cord Weave]

J83 is a simple, comfortable stool that is among the most iconic designs from the first golden age of FDB Møbler. Jørgen Bækmark, who was head of the FDB Møbler design studio from 1958, designed it to complement the popular J80 and J81 dining table chairs, as well as the J82 lounge chair – or armchair, as it was called back in the 1960s.

This wooden stool includes a seat woven with natural or black paper cord. This material is also known as Danish paper cord. Long stripes of flat papers are twisted to form a rope and then are set into coils. It is a natural and sustainable product that last a long time due to its inherent resistance.

The J83 stool is part of the design that has literally proved timeless and been popular for generations. 

WOOD FINISH

Lacquered or oiled oak finish: lacquered (water based varnish, UV protective, easy to clean and maintain) or oiled (matt protective layer that does not peel or crack and allows wood to breathe; minor damages can be sanded and re-oiled with this surface treatment; oil also brings out the natural colour of the wood).

Painted beech finish: the paint adds a protective layer, increasing the furniture's resistance to wear and tear, scratches, and stains. Painted finish allows the natural grain and texture of the wood to show through, preserving the beauty and character of the beech wood.
